Caring for Replaceable Batteries and Vaping Safety
Caring for Replaceable Batteries (Cells):
- Battery Storage: Always use a battery cover or holder when transporting loose batteries to prevent them from touching each other or any other metallic items, which could cause a short circuit.
- Correct Insertion: Ensure that your batteries are inserted correctly in your vaping device to prevent venting. Even if your mod features reverse polarity protection, pay attention to the battery orientation.
- Charging Safety: When charging your battery, check it regularly to see if it has finished charging. Once the charging process is complete, remove the battery from the charger immediately. Charge your batteries on a fireproof surface and never leave them unattended or charge them overnight.
- Temperature Control: Avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperatures, and keep them at room temperature. Always keep batteries away from open flames or sources of heat.
- Inspect for Damage: Regularly inspect your batteries for any signs of damage or denting. If you find any damage, do not use the battery.
- Li-Ion Battery Caution: Extra caution should be exercised when working with rechargeable Lithium Ion cells. Ensure you have a good understanding of Li-Ion batteries, including charging, discharging, and assembly, before using them.
Li-Ion Battery Condition:
- Partial Discharge: Li-Ion batteries do not need to be discharged fully to extend their life. Instead, recharge them before the low battery indicator shows on your mod.
- Voltage Maintenance: Maintain the battery voltage above 2.5V to prolong its life. Going below 2.0V can lead to metal plating inside the battery, possibly causing a short circuit or bursting. Note that this is the resting voltage, not the voltage under load during use.
- Recovery from Low Voltage: If you discharge your battery below 2.0V, charge it immediately at the slowest rate your charger allows. Once it reaches above 3.0V, you can switch back to the normal charging rate. Be cautious; a battery left at 2.0V for an extended time may be damaged and should not be charged or used.
- Cooling Before Charging: Allow the battery to cool to room temperature after removing it from your mod before attempting to charge it. Never use a trickle charger with this type of battery, as it can damage it.
- Amp Limit: Ensure that all devices used with rechargeable Lithium Ion IMR batteries have an amp limit of 20A or higher. Using batteries with lower amp limits can be hazardous.
- Battery Alerts: If your mod displays battery alerts earlier than before, doesn't perform as well, or becomes warmer during use, it may be time to replace the battery. Have your batteries checked to ensure they are still in good condition and dispose of old batteries responsibly.
- Battery Disposal: Never dispose of batteries in the trash. Instead, recycle or dispose of them properly according to local regulations.
Batteries and Mods Dos and Don'ts:
- Rebuildable Atomizer Coils and Wicks: Rebuildables carry known risks and are suitable for experts, not beginners. Always test a rebuildable coil/wick with a meter before use. Faulty coils/wicks can damage electronic devices. New coil/wick units must be tested and used first on a mod with short circuit protection.
- Sub-Ohm Tanks: Sub-ohm tanks and sub-ohm resistance coils should only be used by experienced users. Ensure your mod can fire atomizers of the specified resistance and handle the required amps. Use the OHMS LAW CALCULATOR to check your amps. We suggest using 6mg e-liquid or lower with sub-ohm atomizers, as they produce a higher throat hit.
Vape Responsibly:
- Have a basic understanding of your vaping equipment and how to care for it properly.
- Do not modify the kit you are provided with, including altering battery wraps or markings.
- Follow safety guidelines for Li-Ion batteries and chargers.
- Exercise caution when working with rebuildable atomizers and sub-ohm tanks, and make sure you have the necessary knowledge and equipment to do so safely.
- Stay informed about vaping safety and adhere to local regulations and guidelines.
By practicing proper battery and coil safety, you can enjoy vaping safely and reduce the risks associated with vaping equipment.
